Giving an up-to-date and contemporary education to our young people who will shape our future is the indispensable requirement of standing as an effective, enlightened, dynamic society which has a voice on the international stage. In the 21st century it is clear that the countries, which have successful educational policies, are civilized, technologically advanced and have an impact on the world economy.

To contribute to meet our country’s need for advanced education and scientific research Haliç University was established by Our Children Leukemia Foundation in accordance with law number 4324, dated January 14, 1998 and with the mission and principles specified in the foundation bill. Our mission is to fulfill an ideal of Turkey, a contemporary, democratic country, adherent to Atatürk’s Principles, which does advanced scientific research in accordance with world standards and giving a top-level higher education. For this reason, we attach great importance to our young people who are the guarantee of the modern Turkish Republic.

As in most distinguished universities of the world, aims of Haliç University are to conduct advanced scientific research, to give education services, to train academicians and to employ scientific acquisitions for the benefit of the society. The willingness and responsibility of our young people have a critical role in achieving these aims.

In the educational process young people should gain their freedom and individuality in society and come to know how to act maturely and to respect others’ rights by taking the institution, where they are educated, as their model. Education should be oriented towards service to humanity and should be applicable to every sphere of life. Educational policies should be planned according to the physical and psychological formation of the young and they should be given the opportunity to be educated in the field of they interest. Universities and schools should be established in areas where they can be effective in changing the vision of young people and guiding students in learning the rules and ways of living in a society. In establishing the universities city planning, transportation, climactic conditions should be taken into consideration and the systems of successful world universities should be considered as models. All universities and schools should collaborate and provide the best educational facilities by supporting one another. Moreover, the international exchange of information, through congresses, conferences and the exchange of academicians from abroad, an international level of education and research can be attained. International student congresses should take place in the course of education and friendly relationships between universities should be established. Bearing the principle of universality of knowledge in mind, the academicians and students should be encouraged to represent our country abroad to be closely involved in the academic world.

Parallel to the excellent success our founding institution has achieved in health services, Haliç University’s distinguished academic staff, which have successful achievements in education and service to society, who embrace the high quality standard and contemporary education principle, will be a model and aid to our youth in the warm and sincere atmosphere of our university. Our success in health services is the guarantee of our education services.
